J4DB: About Djinn Oakstar Rayn Buckingham was born on March 19, 1993 in Douglas (Cochise County) Arizona. He is the youngest child of Rainbow Buckingham and has two older sisters, Katrina, born in 1990, and Kyla, born in 1992. Djinn, was your typical All-American boy, who loved sportsd, and creating art, he has shown a masterful talent, in woodworking and drawing (please see the pictures page on this website to see some of Djinn's work). Djinn has shown this talent by creating designs in woodwork, at age 5, with his Grandfather Hal, by his side, showing and teaching him the skill. At the same age, he showed a natural, God given talent in artistry, by winning an award in an art show. He has also shown a natural talent for music, as he can play bass guitar too. Things were fine with Djinn, until he started 3rd grade, at age 9. It was then noticed that Djinn had a learning disability and was sent to doctors, to see how bad, and what the actual problems were. It was discovered, during these tests, that he was dyslexic, had ADHD, a mood swing disorder, and anger management issues. It was also determined that Djinn's Social Skills, were far below normal, and was Socially Underdeveloped. Each and every day in school, was a challenge for Djinn, as he just didn't grasp or understand many of the things, he was being taught in class. Due to these tests, Djinn was placed on several medications, and labeled as a problemed child. Djinn does not learn like a normal child does, you have to show him what you want him to do, so he sees you doing it physically with his own eyes. If you just tell Djinn what to do, and don't explain it, and show him how to do it, he will be completely lost, get frustrated at himself, for not understanding what your asking of him. This disability caused Djinn much pain and anguish in school, as he was constantly laughed at, ridiculed and ostracised, by many students in class, and by many in the student body. He was, and also continues to be a very loving, caring, big-hearted child, which has set him up for, much more hurting. He is still the sweetest child, you will ever meet! It was towards the end of the 2003-2004 school year, when Djinn was in 4th Grade, that he could not continue in Public School, due to hi learning disability, as he just didn't understand much of the curriculum being taught. It was decided by the school district Djinn was enrolled in, that he would be better served at the BHA Academy, so Djinn was sent there for the final 2 weeks of the school year. It was decided before the 2004-2005 school year began, to keep him there. Right after the new school year began, it became apparent, that the teachers didn't know how to teach or show Djinn how to learn, which caused him great anguish and frustration, which boiled over in the classroom once again, as he was being made fun of, for being so slow in his grasping and understanding of things. 2 weeks into the new school year, BHA Academy felt Djinn could not learn properly, and by his acting out, was forced to go to KidsPeace Hospital, to properly evaluate his needs. It was there that they started medicating, and prescribed Djinn drugs. After his stay at Kidspeace Hospital, Djinn was sent to KidsPeace Partial for schooling. There, Djinn still had an extremely hard time grasping and understanding things being taught in the classroom, which was now causing him deeper frustration, and now he was being physically restrained, on several occasions, due to his frustrations, which was causing him even more mental anguish and anxiety. Due to these circumstances, Djinn was placed in another school setting, called Swiftwater Intermediate Resolve Program, there the teachers finally undestood the proper techniques to get Djinn to understand his lessons and learn, and he started to make great strides in his school work, then everything positive that was happening came crashing down, when he was having a bad day, and his teacher ridiculed him in front of the entire class, which caused Djinn much embarrassment. Once again, the class laughed at him, and hurt him deeply. Before tears began to fall, he asked to go to the bathroom, and promptly barracaded himself there. It took several hours to calm Djinn down enough, to where he would come out. After this incident, Djinn was once again forced into going to KidsPeace Hospital, after testing, some of the medications he had been prescribed were discontinued, and others were prescribed that were untested on children, and had substantial side-effects, some of those effects could cause enhancement of symptoms as opposed to curbing them. After his stay at KidsPeace Hospital, he was sent to Second Chance Academy for schooling, and was there for the remainder of the school year, and once again started to show progress in his schoolwork. The 2005-2006 school year started and once again Djinn continued to go to the Second Chance Academy. The problem with him now, was he was getting into trouble, because he was sleeping in class, due much to the medications which were being administered in larger doses, as prescribed by doctors. This new regimine of medications, caused Djinn to be unable to sleep at night, and when he was able to rest, he had horrible nightmares, complicated with much more mental confusion, he also was becoming more anxious and irritable, all due to these prescriptions. Rainbow, Djinn's mother, tried desperately to have doctors change these prescribed medications, to something other, that would not affect him in such visible ways, but doctors refused to do so on every occasion. These medications prescribed to Djinn, were creating a host of other problems, and was being drugged by psychiatrists for no reason. There is a huge difference in a real illness like diabetes, where there are inbalances in the system creating it, and fraud perpetrated by psychiatrists as "mood swing disorders" and "anger management issues."
Children and Youth services took protective custody of the 3 Buckingham children, on the day before Christmas, due to supposed homelessness, and their mother being considered a flight risk. Now, none of the children would be able to go to Arizona, to participate in Sierra's funeral. Djinn would not be able to say goodbye to his beloved cousin, which caused him to become even more solemn and depressed.

On December 29th, 2005, Djinn's life took another drastic turn for the worse. Rainbow, Djinn's mother was in Arizona, for Sierra's funeral services, when she received an evening phone call, from Monroe County Children and Youth Services, asking if it was okay for the State Police and Fire Marshals to come and question the 3 children about the fire, as they wanted to wrap up the investigation. She agreed, but ONLY if a Children and Youth Services worker, whom the Buckingham children trusted, was present with the kids during ALL questioning sessions. Children and Youth Services agreed to this, so the actual questioning sessions were allowed to take place the next day in their offices. The worker whom was requested to be there during the questioning sessions WAS NOT present, NO Children and Youth Services Worker was present during any of the questioning sessions of any of the children, yet were still allowed to take place. Katrina and Kyla were questioned seperately. After their questioning sessions, each was extremely upset and crying, stating that the authorities questioning them were very rude and trying their best to entrap and insnare them. they were also very leading and accusatory in their lines of questioning. After that Djinn was questioned, he was interrogated for over 3 hours, and when the authorities questioning Djinn didn't hear what they wanted to hear, he was forced to engage in a "fantasy line" of questioning, in which a fictitious statement was created. How could Djinn understand what was going on? He was a Socially Underdeveloped, and traumatised 12 year-old child!
Djinn was immediately arrested at the end of his interrogation and sent to a Juvenile Detention Center, charged with Arson and Aggrevated Assault. On January 2nd, 2006, those charges were upgraded by the Monroe County District Attorney to, Arson, Homocide, 6 counts of Aggrevated Assault, and 6 counts of Reckless Endangerment. Djinn was now being charged as an adult, and was being transferred from Juvenile Lockup, to the Monroe County Correctional Facility, and ADULT JAIL. When asked about the fire, upon his arrival there, he stated to family that , he DID NOT set the fire, in which his younger cousin Sierra was killed in. When asked about the questioning, he stated he was tired, scared and upset. He also stated that the authorities questioning him, were screaming at him, trying to get him to say something that wasn't true. Then he said they forced him into what he thought was a fantasy line of questioning, and they created this fictitious staterment verbally. He also stated that he DID NOT confess to anything, and was questioning why he had been arrested, and was being charged with ANY crime, when he did nothing wrong.
Djinn was placed in the intake section of the jail, where he could see and hear everything that was going on, he was frightened and angry, and was becoming more anxious with each passing day. Djinn was in a cell by himself, isolated from all the other prisoners, was in lockdown 23 hours a day, 7 days a week, because of his age, and what section of the jail he was placed. He was only allowed 1 hour of recreation per day, and that was usually after 9pm, when things slowed down enough in the intake section, where his cell was located. Djinn was physically restrained on several occasions, while at the Correctional Facility, due to supposed behavioral issues, on these occasions, Djinn was placed in what was described as a "Hard Room" and a "Rubber Room." He was even placed on meal restrictions due to some supposed anger issues. The isolation, and being locked down for almost every hour, of every day was causing him much mental distress, creating more emotional issues for Djinn. At least once a week, he was in trouble with guards and staff, placing him in Harm's Way on many occasions with punishment procedures. Djinn was simply a child accused of murdering his favorite cousin, who was forcibly isolated from anyone he could trust. Add to that, he was already ostracised at school, learning disabled, taken from home by force on 3 seperate occasions, and subjected to aggressive, intense interrogation, and only 12 years old! Given these circumstances, it would have been highly unusual for Djinn to not feel anger and or frustration.
It was during this time period that the Prosecuting District Attorney requested that Djinn be seen by a State Psychiatrist, and evaluated. That person was Harold Pascal. He stated under oath, during Djinn's preliminary hearings, that he saw Djinn, he also stated that he felt that Djinn's explanation as to whom might have started the fire, was to far fetched to be believed. This psychiatrist also prescribed Djinn 2 "heavy duty" anti-psychotic medications, which altered his whole aura and being. This psychiatrist has since been arrested, for prescribing medications, without proper pre-screenings, and also double billing medicare. Djinn says he remembers seeing this psychiatrist once, and was there for a minute or two, tops. These two medications prescribed by this Doctor Harold Pascal changed Djinn's whole personality. He was now even more tired, then he was on the other medications he was given, plus these drugs made him much more confused than normal. These drugs also made Djinn very submissive and withdrawn. The entire family was also shut down by Monroe County authorities from seeing him any longer, as it was felt that Djinn was a product of "bad parenting." Because of this, he had to endure thje brunt of much of this physical, also mental pain and anguish by himself, without anyone there to help him through it. Plus now, he was also isolated from loved ones, which hurt him all the more. After a 4 month stay at the Adult Correctional Facility, Djinn was transferred to Laurel Youth, a Juvenile Diagnostic/ Detention facility, where many more tests were run, to give to the court. He was frantic, missed all his family, and life, so he and another inmate escaped from the facility. Djinn was caught less than 2 hours later. He was then sent to another, more restrictive Detention Facility, where he would have no freedoms, to await trial. When Djinn was asked why he escaped from Laurel Youth, he replied, "I missed my mom, I was worried, I had not heard from her, or anyone else, and I had to make sure they were okay." Djinn plead guilty at the end of his trial and was adjudicated. He was given an open-ended sentence, by the court, and can serve no less than 5 years, and can serve as many as 8, depending upon variable circumstances. It was mandated by ther court, that he be sent to the Abraxas Youth Center, and be placed in their Secure treratment/ Detention Unit, until further notice. Upon his arrival there, Djinn underwent a battery of diagnostic and health related tests,. After those tests were completed, it was found that everything Djinn had gained from his previous school setting before the fire, were now lost, and now his Social Skills, were now far worse off than before. So, once again, Djinn was placed in a school setting at this Detention Facility, where he could be ridiculed and ostracised by peers. Again, this vicious cycle repeated itself, and Djinn had to be restrained on several occasions, for anger outbursts and bad behavior, by using so called "de-escalation techniques, and safe, crisis management tools." If they were safe, then why, was he injured during some of these techniques, manuevers and use of these tools? Djinn was sexually assaulted and molested by another inmate of this Detention Facility, staff did nothing to stop it, as it happened in plain view. Nothing was done to the other inmate, he was just moved to another secure section of the facility. Djinn did nothing wrong, yet was punished severely by Abraxas Youth Center. Abraxas has stated that they did nothing wrong, well, if they didn't, then why, were many people fired, directly because of this incident? Cruelty and Death in Juvenile Detention Centers
On March 19th, 2009, Djinn turned 16, his 4th uncelebrated birthday during incarceration Does This Bother You?
Editor's Note Let's send an overwhelming message to Djinn that we care, and he is no longer alone. Scream at the representatives in Pennsylvania to open an investigation into what really happened. Make Justice prevail. This country should belong to the decent people, and not to the authorities who lock up our children without a thorough investigation and seeking the truth. It's Up To You.
Since his placement at this facility, Djinn has again stated flatly, that he DID NOT set the fire, in which his beloved cousin Sierra died, that he was forced into pleading guilty, by his Public Defender, and other State sanctioned psychiatrists who evaluated him. He also stated, that he DID NOT understand why he was pleading guilty, and to what he was pleading guilty too!
What happened to Djinn, could easily happen to your children or grandchildren. State agencies, like Children and Youth services profit financially, psychiatrists also profit, by drugging the children, turning them into victims, minipulating them, keeping them in the system, and continuing to make money off each and every child placed.

It damn well should! This website is about conveying the truth about Djinn's case, in a direct, unvarnished manner. I hope everyone will learn something here and then do something about it! Remember-majority rules. I still like to believe that there are a lot more decent, honest people out there, than the one's responsible for arresting Djinn, without any basis, or proof, in fact. So let's flex the muscle we have: Inform yourself and others, write those that we give governing power to, and get the media interested in solving this case, not just issuing innuendo. Good will win over this evil!
